Pros

  • Needs only 2" of wall clearance, one of the tightest published figures in our set
  • 4D rollers with voice control, a mobile app and a documented body scan
  • 4-year limited warranty is longer than most imported flagships

Cons

  • Heat is lumbar only — no calf or foot heat is published
  • 304 lb chassis makes upstairs delivery harder
  • Optimal height range starts at 5'4", so shorter users may not fit the scan well

Our Take

Our editorial assessment of this chair, based on verified specifications rather than hands-on testing. This is a Research Review.

The Yutaka M898 is the chair to look at when the room, not the budget, is the constraint. Kyota publishes 4D rollers on a 49-inch L track, three zero-gravity stages, foot and calf rollers, a 300 lb limit and a 5'4"–6'7" fit range — with only two inches of required wall clearance and a 73-inch reclined length.

That combination is unusual. Most chairs that accommodate 6'7" users need substantially more floor length when reclined; this one is among the shortest reclined footprints we have verified for its fit range.

The weak points on paper are heat, which is lumbar-only, and the warranty at four years — respectable, but shorter than the five-year structures from Infinity, Ogawa and Human Touch at similar money. Our editorial assessment: buy this if you want flagship roller technology in a room that cannot give a chair much space, and treat the heat and warranty as the price of that footprint.

Where it fits in the premium 4D market

The Yutaka competes directly with the Infinity and Ogawa flagships and wins on footprint rather than on features. Among published 4D chairs that fit users up to 6'7", it needs the least room.

Same recorded price or less

  • Ogawa Master Drive AI 2.0About $6,000 less than the Yutaka M8984D rollers, three heat zones, a 320 lb limit and five-year cover for around $6,000 less — but four inches of wall clearance and a 6'1" ceiling.
  • Osaki OS-Highpointe 4DAbout $8,000 less than the Yutaka M8984D and two-inch clearance for far less, if you do not need the longer track or the taller fit range.

Higher recorded price

  • Infinity LuminaryAbout $1,000 more than the Yutaka M898Similar roller class with a longer warranty and a more design-led presentation, at a higher price.

What you’re really paying for

What the Yutaka's price covers, based on Kyota's published specifications:

  • Two-inch wall clearance with a 6'7" fit ceilingThe reason to buy this chair. Very few chairs accommodate that height while sitting essentially against a wall.
  • 4D rollers on a 49-inch L trackAdjustable depth with coverage that continues under the seat — the same roller class as chairs costing more.
  • Foot and calf rollers plus three zero-gravity stagesMechanical lower-body work rather than compression alone, and a genuine choice of recline postures.
  • Lumbar-only heatOverrated at this priceOne zone at a $13,000 price. Chairs at half the money publish three.
  • Four-year limited warrantyOverrated at this priceShorter than the five-year terms its direct competitors publish. Worth pricing into the comparison rather than ignoring.

Who it suits, who should skip it

A 4D L-track flagship built for rooms where the chair has to sit against a wall. Research Review based on Kyota's published product page and spec sheets.

Best for: 4D coverage in a room where the chair has to sit close to the wall. Skip it if you fall outside the stated fit (5'4" – 6'7", up to 300 lb), cannot give it 2" of wall clearance, or would rather spend less — our budget guides cover cheaper verified chairs.

Buying trade-offs from the published specs

  • Stated fit is 5'4" to 6'7"; if you sit near either end, check shoulder and foot-well position before committing.
  • It needs only 2 in. behind the backrest to recline, so it can sit close to a wall.
  • Its stated user weight limit is 300 lb; 6 chairs we publish list a higher limit.
  • 10 other 4D chairs we publish have a lower recorded price, so the premium has to be justified by fit, warranty or features.
  • Warranty as published: 4-year limited warranty (Kyota Promise). Compare labor, parts and structure tiers separately.

Frequently asked questions about the Kyota Yutaka M898

Answers are generated from the same cited specifications shown above. Where a figure is not published by the manufacturer, we leave the question out rather than guess.

What height range does the Kyota Yutaka M898 fit?
Kyota publishes an optimal user height range of 5'4" to 6'7" for the Yutaka M898. Outside that range the body scan can misplace the neck and lumbar rollers, so treat the ends of the range as limits rather than targets.
What is the weight limit on the Kyota Yutaka M898?
The published maximum user weight is 300 lbs. That figure is a structural limit for the frame and airbags, not a comfort rating — shoulder and hip width matter just as much for fit.
How much space does the Kyota Yutaka M898 need behind it?
Kyota publishes a 2" wall clearance requirement. Measure from the finished wall — baseboards and outlet covers count against that gap.
What are the dimensions of the Kyota Yutaka M898?
Upright, the published footprint is 49" L x 35" W x 67" H; fully reclined it measures 73" L x 35" W x 37" H. Check doorways and stair turns before delivery — the chair weighs 304 lbs.
Is the Kyota Yutaka M898 a 4D chair?
Yes. Kyota lists a 4D mechanism on an L-track, which means roller speed and depth are adjustable independently rather than fixed.
Does the Kyota Yutaka M898 have foot rollers, and can they be turned off?
Yes, Kyota lists foot rollers. We have not found a documented on/off or speed control for them in the sources we cite, so check the manual or ask the seller if that matters to you.
Where does the Kyota Yutaka M898 apply heat?
Kyota publishes heat at: lumbar. Other areas are not listed as heated in the sources we cite.
What warranty comes with the Kyota Yutaka M898?
Kyota publishes: 4-year limited warranty (Kyota Promise). Warranty terms often differ between the manufacturer and individual retailers, so confirm the coverage on the invoice you actually sign.
How much does the Kyota Yutaka M898 cost?
We recorded $12,999 at Kyota (manufacturer site) on 2026-09-01. Prices change often; confirm the current price and stock with the seller.
Has ChairMentor tested the Kyota Yutaka M898?
This is a Research Review. Every specification on this page is cited to Kyota's own documentation and dated, but we have not sat in this chair, so we do not rate comfort, noise or long-term reliability.
