When to Buy a Massage Chair: Sale Cycles and What a Real Discount Looks Like

Massage chairs are discounted year-round, which makes 'on sale' close to meaningless on its own. What matters is the street price history of the specific model, not the percentage off a list price the chair never sold at.

How pricing works in this category

Most brands publish an MSRP and then allow dealers to advertise a lower street price. The advertised discount is usually measured against the MSRP, so a chair can be permanently '30% off' without the street price ever changing.

Track the street price of the exact model over a few weeks before buying. A genuine sale moves the street price down; a marketing sale moves the reference price up.

The recurring sale calendar

Black Friday and Cyber Monday: the deepest and broadest discounting of the year across nearly every brand and channel.

Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day: the standard US furniture sale holidays, which massage chair dealers follow closely.

New model launches: when a brand releases a successor, the outgoing model typically sees its largest real price drop. The outgoing chair is often the best value in the lineup.

End of quarter and end of year: dealers clearing inventory targets have more room to negotiate, especially on floor models.

What is negotiable beyond price

Extended warranty coverage, white-glove delivery, stair carries, old-chair removal and accessories are often easier for a dealer to concede than the advertised price. On a flagship chair those extras can be worth more than a small percentage discount.

Ask what the total delivered price is, including service level — comparing sticker prices across channels without that number is misleading.

When waiting is not worth it

If you have found the chair that fits your body and it falls within your budget now, the marginal saving from waiting for the next holiday is usually a few hundred dollars on a multi-thousand-dollar purchase.

Fit is the expensive mistake in this category, not timing. A discounted chair that does not fit your height or reach your problem areas is worse value at any price.
