The remote is the primary interface
Almost all daily use runs through the remote. Tablet remotes look premium and show more options at once; button remotes are faster to use without looking and are easier for anyone with limited vision or dexterity.
Whatever the type, confirm you can find power, stop and recline without reading the screen. That is the control you will need in a hurry.
Voice control
Chair voice control is generally a fixed command set processed on the chair, not a general assistant. It handles starting a program, adjusting intensity or stopping, and it works less well in a noisy room.
It is genuinely useful mid-session, when reaching the remote means breaking position. It is not a reason to choose one chair over another on its own.
Companion apps and connectivity
Apps typically add program selection, timers and occasional firmware updates. Bluetooth on most chairs is for audio, not control.
Ask what stops working if the app is withdrawn. On a well-designed chair the answer is nothing important, because every function is reachable from the remote. If a chair requires the app for core features, that is a long-term risk on a purchase meant to last a decade.
What to verify before buying
Check that the remote is a replaceable part and roughly what a replacement costs. Remotes fail more often than mechanisms and are not always cheap.
